I’ve always loved photography. When I was a kid, my grandfather would always have a camera in his hand sticking it in peoples faces and taking tons of pics. It was annoying at times but now I love to sit and look through all those old photos. For me, photos are the best way of remembering the past.
I always had a camera growing up and loved taking my own pictures. But it was just a few years ago that photography became a real hobby of mine – my calls it my obsession, not a hobby, and she’s probably right. The change happened when I bought my first “real” camera – a Nikon D70 digital SLR. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was amazed at the image quality over standard point and shoot cameras and how versatile it was with more than one lens. I found myself looking for reasons to take pictures and that’s when this obsession began. Naturally my favorite subjects were my daughters and sometimes my oldest would ask me to put the camera down. I’ve been told I have more than a little of my grandfather’s blood in me.
Then I discovered nature photography – especially waterfalls – and fell in love with it. I’ve always loved hiking and found a new focus for my hikes and discovering and capturing some of the most amazing places we have in Arkansas.
There’s just something about capturing that split second moment when everything is just right. I love it. Whether is a beautiful fall landscape under the perfect light or the perfect smile on a child or the tender moment of a bride and groom. I love capturing the moments.
